As my senior year draws to a close and my senior project comes to an end, I revisit my original question, “What do you want to be when you grow up?” From my senior project, I have been able to explore this question by trying to design and make a prosthetic device and do extensive research on it. For now, I think that I have successfully answered that question. I went into my senior project thinking that I would like to become a biomedical engineer and work on designing prosthetic devices. This project and experience has helped myself to confirm my choice of biomedical engineering.
I have learned so much from my senior project. It has helped me to gain a better understanding of prosthetic devices, become a critical thinker, problem solve, and work with other people in order to achieve a desired end result. I have loved every minute spent working on the prosthetic device and the experience has helped me to develop a better relationship with those who helped me to build the device. Although there were times that it seemed impossible to get this device built, and I felt like giving up, I have learned to persevere and keep trying ideas until I find one that works. Although I have not succeeded in making the device, I plan to continue working on it while the resources are still available. Thank you for taking the time to view my senior project portfolio. I hope that you learned something new and enjoyed learning about human bionics!
